Finding future in the forest

In November 2023 I set out into the Sumatran jungle, guided by Nuraga Bhumi Institute's female ranger team. Gunung Leuser National Park is the only place in the world where orangutans, rhinos, tigers ánd elephants live. With poaching, illegal animal trade and the ever-growing palm oil industry as contrasting forces of destruction, the series 'Finding future in the forest' offers a hopeful perspective. The mutually reinforcing dynamic between conservation and social change is an enriching narrative in the known issues surrounding palm oil.

The visual story, created in partnership with Nuraga Bhumi Institute, was published in the Photographers Without Borders print magazine (2024 edition).
